Burb Wars will allow you to challenge your friends' suburbs, one comparison at a time.
Bouts will draw from data related to health, air quality, crime rates, housing density, average income, community engagement and much more. If you happen to lose a round, and would like to improve your suburb, there are a number of ways you can do this (besides attempting to hack our database to improve the statistics, we've written our code properly so that will be difficult). Plant a tree; provide feedback to your local council and state MPs; volunteer with a community organisation, or start a new one. |
So far, the app asks (and answers, for SA at least) the following questions:
Who has the highest education level?
Who has the most amount of HECS debt still owing?
Who has the most people with a HECS debt?
Who has the most public shools nearby?
Who has the most playgrounds in their local council area?
Who has the most nearby community organisations?<
Who has more roads?
Who has the most road crashes in their area?
Who has the most long waits at their neartest major hospital?
Who has the most community facilites available for hire from public schools?
Who has the most playgrounds in their local council area?
Who has the nearest public jetty?
Who has the closest major hospital?
Who has the most people that earned salary or wages in 2013?
Who has the most people with a HECS debt?
Who has the most recycling locations?
Who has the cleanest air?
We have more data available than this, including crime statistics per 1000 population for most states. These are just the questions the web service has implemented.
